{"id":2623,"date":"2019-05-18T07:23:36","date_gmt":"2019-05-18T06:23:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/globalfraudforensics.com\/fraudxpose\/?p=2623"},"modified":"2019-05-18T07:23:36","modified_gmt":"2019-05-18T06:23:36","slug":"gp-52-could-face-the-sack-for-discrimination-after-telling-muslim-woman-to-remove-veil-during-visit-because-he-could-not-hear-her-explain-what-was-wrong-with-her-child","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/globalfraudforensics.com\/fraudxpose\/gp-52-could-face-the-sack-for-discrimination-after-telling-muslim-woman-to-remove-veil-during-visit-because-he-could-not-hear-her-explain-what-was-wrong-with-her-child\/","title":{"rendered":"GP, 52, could face the sack for &#8216;discrimination&#8217; after &#8216;telling Muslim woman to remove veil during visit because he could not hear her explain what was wrong with her child&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>Dr Keith Wolverson, 52, could face sack over claims of &#8216;discrimination&#8217;<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>He allegedly told Muslim woman to &#8216;remove veil or he would stop appointment&#8217;\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>But the GP claims he couldn&#8217;t hear her and merely politely asked her to take it off<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Family informed the GMC and he could be struck off if he is found guilty\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A GP is facing the sack after being accused of discriminating against a Muslim woman after &#8216;asking her to remove her veil&#8217; during a consultation.<\/p>\n<p>The patient claimed Dr Keith Wolverson, 52, told her he could not hear her explain what was wrong with her child because she was speaking through her niqab.<\/p>\n<p>The doctor of 23 years then &#8216;asked her to take it off&#8217; while all three were sat in a consultation room at Royal Stoke University Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>She then complained to hospital bosses half-an-hour later when her husband arrived to collect her and they subsequently reported him to the General Medical Council.<\/p>\n<p>But Dr Wolverson said the claims were &#8216;outrageous&#8217; and denied any discrimination, adding he was &#8216;just trying to do his job&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>He told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/news\/9100445\/gp-faces-axe-muslim-woman-remove-niqab\/\"><strong>The Sun<\/strong><\/a>: &#8216;I found it difficult to understand what the woman was saying behind her veil, so politely asked her to remove it. I needed to hear what was wrong with her daughter, so I could offer the safest possible care.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I&#8217;m not racist.
