A victim of David Beckham<\/a> \u2019s fraudster brother-in-law has \u00adrevealed how he was left \u00adpenniless and living in a car.<\/span><\/p>\n

Reg Bisson was hoodwinked by Darren Flood into handing over \u00a3130,000, including \u00a3100,000 from the proceeds of his late mother\u2019s house.<\/span><\/p>\n

The rest came from pawning his mum\u2019s jewels and heirlooms and a payday loan he was conned into taking out.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bankrupt Reg, 57, who used to work as a driver, told the Sunday People: \u201cI\u2019ve lived on absolutely nothing for eight years.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 “It\u2019s only been by the kindness from ladies in my church that I\u2019ve managed to survive somehow.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Flood, married to Victoria Beckham\u2019s sister Louise Adams for five years, traded on the famous footballer\u2019s name to lure in victims.<\/span><\/p>\n

But former England skipper Becks, 44, and wife Posh, 45, had no involvement in the scheme. Reg was trapped into the con by Flood\u2019s \u00adaccomplice Paul Muldoon.<\/span><\/p>\n

He was one of at least 24 \u00advictims, who included a widow in her 80s, a retired policeman and a multiple sclerosis sufferer.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/span><\/p>\n

With promise of big profits the victims pumped nearly \u00a3810,000 into The Commodities Link that \u00adinvested in \u201crare earth elements metals and oxides\u201d which were actually worthless.<\/span><\/p>\n

The firm, with its posh brochures and office in London\u2019s Canary Wharf, was a facade and the cheats stole the money.<\/span><\/p>\n

In January, Flood, 40, of Hertford, Herts, was convicted at Kingston crown court of conspiracy to commit fraud between April 2012 and August 2014, and jailed for 30 months.<\/span><\/p>\n

Among the other six jailed was main company salesman Muldoon, 34 of Basildon, Essex, who got four years after admitting a similar charge.<\/span><\/p>\n

Muldoon had \u201cmade great play of Darren Flood being David Beckham\u2019s brother-in-law\u201d \u00adduring a pitch to a victim who lost \u00a362,000. In July, Flood, who was wed to Posh\u2019s sister Louise \u2013 who knew nothing of the con \u2013 from 2009 to 2014, was ordered to pay back \u00a3190,000.<\/span><\/p>\n

Flood and his gang were found to have a total of \u00a3370,634 in assets by financial investigators, which the court said they must repay under Proceeds of Crime laws.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dad-of-two Reg thinks he might get just a fraction of his cash back.<\/span><\/p>\n

He said: \u201cThey came out with all these pukka brochures. They made it look as professional as they could.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThey reeled me in a little bit more each time.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cThen they left me alone for a few months while they found another victim, and then they come back on you \u2013 bang, hit you again.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

When his suspicions about the con artists grew, he took out a payday loan to pay \u00a315,000 in \u201ccapital gains tax\u201d the gang said would free up his cash. But that disappeared.<\/span><\/p>\n

He reported the cheats and the police confirmed his worst fears.<\/span><\/p>\n

Last year, with mounting bills, Reg declared himself bankrupt \u2013 and lost his house on his 56th birthday.<\/span><\/p>\n

He started living in his car and has only now managed to secure a place on a social-housing waiting list.<\/span><\/p>\n

Reg said: \u201cMy lowest was probably after the police came round. I knew it was a scam. I knew it wasn\u2019t right.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

He added: \u201cI kick myself now to think. I\u2019m not somebody who wastes money. That was my pension money.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Det Insp Matt Durkin, of Surrey Police\u2019s Economic Crime Unit, said: \u201cThese people destroyed their victims\u2019 lives without a second thought. They took life savings, left investors destitute and took away the \u00adconfidence and \u00adindependence of their elderly victims.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
