[EFCC]<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Oluwatofunmi <\/strong>is alleged to have impersonated a white American lady, <strong>Daina Patrick<\/strong>, to swindle unsuspecting victims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ilorin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), secured the conviction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Delivering judgement, Justice <strong>Mahmud Abdulgafar<\/strong> sentenced Ayeni to six months suspended prison term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The court also ordered the forfeiture of the sum of US$200, which the convict benefited from the unlawful activity, as well as the phone used to perpetrate the crime to the federal government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Abdulgafar held that, <em>\u201cthe court is satisfied that the prosecution has proved its case beyond reasonable doubt.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The offence against the defendant reads that; Ayeni Peter Oluwatofunmi, impersonated a white America female, Daina Patrick, to swindle unsuspecting victims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The offence is contrary to Section 321 of the Penal Code law and punishable under section 324 of the same law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The defendant pleaded guilty as charged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Upon the \u2018guilty plea\u2019 by the defendant, Counsel to the EFCC, <strong>Rashidat Alao<\/strong>, called a witness, who narrated how credible intelligence led to the arrest of the defendant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The witness, an operative of the Commission, tendered several fraudulent messages, printed from the device of the defendant, which the court admitted in evidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alao thereafter urged the court to consider the plea entered by the defendant, his extrajudicial statements, the testimony of the sole prosecution witness and exhibits tendered to convict the defendant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Source: Pulse.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Kwara state High court, sitting in Ilorin on Tuesday sentenced one Ayeni Oluwatofunmi, 25, to Correctional Centre, for impersonation and offences bordering on cybercrime.
