Sophy Retallick was spotted on CCTV taking cash from the purse of an 83-year-old woman she was supposed to be caring for between October 2017 and May 2018 in Truro, Cornwall. The crime, which has been labelled ‘appalling’ by the victim’s son, was caught on video after he noticed his mother’s purse had less money than usual. He became concerned so installed CCTV cameras in his mother’s home and caught Retallick in the act. Retallick appeared at Truro Magistrates’ Court on Monday where she pleaded guilty to the theft.
