The Kwara State House of Assembly has asked the state government to prosecute the former Director General, Public Private Partnership Bureau, Mr Yomi Ogunshola, for alleged fraud that was perpetrated under his watch during the 2018 audit conducted in the state.
The recommendation was contained in the resolution passed by the Assembly on Tuesday and read at the plenary by the Speaker, Yakubu Salihu-Danladi.
This was after the Assembly the report of the House Committee on Public Account on the ‘Report of Auditor General on the Account of Ministries Departments and Agencies of the State in Respect of Queries Raised for the Year Ended in December 2018’ chaired by Saheed Popoola representing the Ojomu-Balogun Constituency.
The Speaker said, “The House urged the state Government to ensure that the Director General of the Kwara State Public Private Partnership Bureau, Mr Yomi Ogunshola, is brought to book for the fraudulent activities under his watch discovered during audit inspection.”
The Assembly also called on the state government to always ensure prompt release of funds to ministries, departments and agencies to enable them file audited report to appropriate quarters
Meanwhile, the Kwara State Bureau of Micro Small and Medium Scale Enterprise Bill, 2021, was submitted to the Assembly by Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, on Tuesday.
The Speaker referred the bill to House Committee on Rules, Ethics and Business for deliberation.
In another development, the House also received a petition from Geruwu Community son illegal approval of filling station in the area.
The petition by one Sodiq Kolapo alleged that the location of the filling station was not for industrial purpose.
