Sequel to COVID-19 global pandemic, which is currently affecting the entire world and the ongoing social media rumour linking 5G wireless technology evolution as the major cause of the global pandemic. It’s very pertinent we understand some valid facts about 5G technology.
What is 5G?
5G is the 5th generation mobile network.5G will elevate the mobile network to not only interconnect people, but also interconnect and control machines, objects, and devices. It will deliver new levels of performance and efficiency that will empower new user experiences and connect new industries. 5G will deliver multi-Gbps peak rates, ultra-low latency, massive capacity, and more uniform user experience.
Benefits of 5G
5G is a new kind of network: a platform for innovations that will not only enhances today’s mobile broadband services but will also expand mobile networks to support a vast diversity of devices and services and connect new industries with improved performance, efficiency, and cost. 5G will redefine a broad range of industries with connected services from retail to education, transportation to entertainment, and everything in between. We see 5G as technology as transformative as the automobile and electricity.
5G And Health
The possible side effects of 5G are the same as 4G, 3G, 2G and 1G. All these wireless technologies use EM waveform that radiates energy. Also, many studies have revealed that 5G radiations are not as severe as “CT scan or x-ray technologies” which are used in medical care.
Tissue heating is the main mechanism of interaction between radiofrequency fields and the human body. Radiofrequency exposure levels from current technologies result in negligible temperature rise in the human body. As the frequency increases, there is less penetration into the body tissues and absorption of the energy becomes more confined to the surface of the body (skin and eye). Provided that the overall exposure remains below international guidelines, no anticipated consequences for public health.
5G Does Not Cause Viruses
While there have been health concerns regarding the use of 5G network and mobile networks in general owing to radiation, this has nothing to do with the current global pandemic. 5G, like previous generations of cellular communication systems, is a RF-based (radiofrequency) technology that uses electromagnetic (EM) waveform to transmit information; EM-waveforms are themselves non-ionizing radiations. Being a living thing, a virus cannot be created by radiation. In fact, it is the other way round as there are guidelines put in place to ensure radiation does not affected living thing.
In view of the foregoing, there is no iota of truth linking 5G as the major cause of COVID-19 rather 5G wireless evolution has come to end network latency and bring about customer satisfaction we have been craving for since the inception of GSM technology in Nigeria.

MR Chris you might be right. There has to be an effect. Anything used in the modern world has a negative affect, even down to petrol or diesel emissions. However, are all the people complaining prepared to give up all their 21st century lifestyle and go right back to basics? My own opinion is that there needs to be a lot more independent testing done before this rollout should be allowed to continue. What is your opinion on 5G being a positive impact on people’s lifestyle? Don’t you think it would also lead.to increase in the number of privacy issues and legal interception
What really is your experience sir ? Are you saying there are no health issues due 5G ?
What really benefits form this implementation ? Government or Telcos
There are no health issues on 5G implementation. Bodies like the World Health Organization and International Telecommunications Union have come out to debunk such correlation. Should there be potential health effect on 5G, these bodies will not approve the trial phase. Moreover, the frequencies deployed for 5G have closed to zero percent tolerance on radiation.

Mr Mike, the government, telcos and subscribers will benefit in the evolution of 5G. The quality of service will be satisfactory to subscribers. Government will fuly explore e-business and commerce which will boost our economy and further create more job opportunities. Telcos revenue will equally surge exponentially.
On health implications, i still reiterate, it’s not life threatening. Except you want to tell me your are better equipped than W.H.O.

Hello michael, i have read your article explicitly. British goverment pulling out of the 5G agreement with Huawei due to contamination of test kits for covid-19. It might interest you to know that there are other OEMs such as Ericsson and Nokia on this 5G trials and none of the countries that is currently having 5G trial with their equipment has come out to complaiin of such side effect. The EM wave emitted from a 5G base station has an infinitesimal effect when compared with 4G et al. Pulling out of Huawei 5G equipment trial by this countries might be due to other reasons beyond your understanding. Should other countries using other OEMs as trials follow the same precedence due to the claimed health reason, then we can look at this issue further.
Hello mike, in addition to the aforementioned, there is an aspect we need to consider also, which is the user equipment. While the OEM continue to work on giving 5G technology deployment, we also need the phone makers to intensify effort in producing a rock solid 5G phone with no health effect.
This is very true, I never thought in a split second that 5G wireless has any thing to contribute to the outbreak of Coronavirus.
I hope that people should stop spreading fake news. Only the ignorant ones would believe the aforesaid. 5G wireless network is good and efficient. A welcome development.
